1. PURPOSE AND SCOPE
MJV Masonry & Contracting respects the privacy of people who visit its website, submit a Quote Form, contact the business, become customers, or otherwise provide personal information. This Privacy Policy explains the personal information MJV may collect, why it is used, when it may be shared, how it is protected, how long it is kept, and how individuals may ask questions or exercise privacy rights.
This policy applies to information handled by MJV Masonry & Contracting in connection with the website, quote-request process, project communications and related business administration.
2. PERSONAL INFORMATION WE MAY COLLECT
Depending on how you interact with MJV, information may include your name, email address, telephone number, project or service address, municipality, project type, project description, preferred timing, photos or videos of the property or work area, correspondence, quote and service details, invoice/payment administration information, and other information you choose to provide.
The website or its service providers may also generate limited technical information such as IP address, browser/device information, security logs, referral information and pages requested. MJV does not represent that an advertising or analytics platform is active unless it is actually added to the production website and this policy and the Cookie/Analytics Inventory are updated.
3. WHY MJV USES PERSONAL INFORMATION
MJV may use personal information to review and respond to Quote Forms; understand project needs; communicate about a request or project; decide whether a site visit or consultation should be offered; prepare, discuss or revise a quote; schedule approved visits; provide services; coordinate labour, subcontractors, suppliers or materials; administer invoices, payments and records; address warranty, repair or customer-service matters; maintain business, tax, insurance and legal records; protect the website and systems; and comply with applicable legal or regulatory requirements.
4. CONSENT AND CHOICES
MJV seeks consent appropriate to the circumstances and the purposes identified. By voluntarily submitting information for a quote or service request, you authorize MJV to use that information for the purposes reasonably connected with reviewing and responding to the request and, if applicable, delivering services.
You may withdraw consent for optional uses, subject to legal, contractual, record-retention and practical limitations. Withdrawal may affect MJV's ability to continue a quote, project or requested service where the information is necessary for that purpose.
5. QUOTE FORM AND APPOINTMENT PROCESS
The public website directs prospective customers to the Quote Form. Submitting the Quote Form does not create a contract, guarantee service, or book an appointment. Marty Vandenberg reviews requests first. If a consultation or site visit is approved, MJV may privately provide an appointment or booking link afterward. There is no direct public calendar-booking connection on the website.
6. PHOTOS AND VIDEOS
Photos or videos submitted with a Quote Form may be used to assess the project, understand site conditions, prepare or discuss a quote, plan work, or determine whether a site visit is appropriate. Sending a photo for quote assessment does not automatically authorize MJV to publish it for marketing. Public website, portfolio, social-media or advertising use requires the separate permission process maintained by MJV where permission is appropriate.
Please avoid sending images that unnecessarily reveal private documents, financial information, licence plates, people, children, valuables or other sensitive information.
7. SHARING PERSONAL INFORMATION
MJV does not sell personal information. Information may be shared only as reasonably necessary with authorized team members; subcontractors or trades involved in a project; suppliers; website, email, form, storage, hosting, security or IT providers; accountants, bookkeepers, payment providers if later used, insurers, legal advisors or other professional advisors; and government, courts, law enforcement or regulators where disclosure is required or permitted by law.
MJV aims to limit sharing to information reasonably needed for the purpose.
8. SERVICE PROVIDERS AND DATA LOCATION
MJV currently uses services that may include Google Workspace/Gmail/Drive, Google Forms or related Google tools, a GitHub-based website development/deployment workflow, GoDaddy domain/DNS services, and a private Google Calendar appointment process. Service providers may process information in jurisdictions outside Ontario or Canada according to their own infrastructure and terms. When information is processed elsewhere, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
9. MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS
MJV may contact you about a Quote Form, project, appointment, invoice, warranty or related customer-service matter. MJV will not treat Quote Form submission as consent to unrelated promotional email or text marketing. The separate CASL marketing-consent template in the internal package remains inactive unless MJV establishes a compliant promotional program.
10. COOKIES, ANALYTICS AND TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The production website must be reviewed against the MJV Cookie and Analytics Inventory. Basic hosting, security and technical logs may occur as part of operating a website. If MJV later adds analytics, advertising tags, embedded media or other tracking technologies, the inventory and this Privacy Policy must be updated before or when those tools are activated, as appropriate.
11. SAFEGUARDS
MJV uses reasonable administrative, technical and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including limiting access to people who reasonably need it and using approved business systems. No website, email, form, text message, cloud service or electronic storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.
12. RETENTION AND DELETION
MJV keeps personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and for applicable business, tax, insurance, warranty, dispute-resolution, contractual or legal requirements. The internal MJV Data Retention and Deletion Schedule provides operational guidance. When information is no longer required, MJV will take reasonable steps to delete, destroy, anonymize or securely archive it as appropriate.
13. ACCESS, CORRECTION, CONSENT WITHDRAWAL AND COMPLAINTS
You may contact MJV to request access to or correction of personal information held about you, to ask about privacy practices, to withdraw consent where applicable, or to raise a privacy complaint. MJV may need to verify your identity before disclosing or changing personal information and may limit access where permitted or required by law.
14. PRIVACY BREACHES
MJV maintains an internal privacy-breach response procedure. Suspected loss, unauthorized access, disclosure or misuse of personal information is assessed and documented, and MJV will take notification or reporting steps where required by applicable law.
15. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
MJV may update this Privacy Policy when business practices, website features, service providers or legal requirements change. The current version should be posted on the website with its effective or revision date.
