PURPOSE

This notice explains ownership and permitted use of content appearing on the MJV Masonry & Contracting website and establishes an internal licensing record for content used by the business.

MJV-OWNED CONTENT

Unless otherwise stated, original website text, service descriptions, graphics, layout elements, photographs created by MJV Masonry & Contracting, project documentation, logos and other original creative materials are owned by MJV Masonry & Contracting or used under a valid licence or permission. Canadian copyright law generally protects original creative works when the statutory requirements are met.

PERMITTED WEBSITE USE

Visitors may view website content for personal and informational purposes. No ownership rights are transferred by viewing, downloading or sharing a webpage link.

PROHIBITED USE WITHOUT PERMISSION

Except where permitted by law, website materials may not be copied, republished, modified, sold, distributed, scraped for commercial reuse, incorporated into another business's advertising, or used in a way that suggests endorsement by MJV Masonry & Contracting without written permission.

LOGO AND BRANDING

The MJV Masonry & Contracting name, logo, brand elements and original marketing assets may not be used to impersonate the business, create confusion about affiliation, or advertise another business without written authorization. Trademark rights, if any, are separate from copyright rights and should be reviewed independently where needed.

PROJECT PHOTOGRAPHS

Ownership of a photograph and permission to publish a photograph are separate issues. Before MJV uses customer-property or project photographs publicly, the team should confirm both: (1) that MJV owns or is licensed to use the image, and (2) that any required customer/property permission has been obtained. Quote-form photos submitted for project assessment are not automatically marketing-use permission.

CUSTOMER TESTIMONIALS

Customer comments, names, locations and photos should be published only within the scope of the customer's recorded testimonial permission. Editing for spelling or length should not materially change the customer's meaning.

THIRD-PARTY MATERIALS

Before publishing stock photos, icons, fonts, illustrations, templates, software, maps, embedded media or other third-party materials, the team must record the source and applicable licence or terms. 'Found online' is not a licence. Where attribution is required, it must be displayed in the form required by the licence.

STUDENT, INTERN, CONTRACTOR AND VENDOR ASSETS

For any website or marketing asset created by a student, intern, contractor, designer, photographer or vendor, MJV should retain written confirmation of ownership, assignment or licence rights sufficient for the intended website and marketing use. The team should not assume that paying for or receiving an asset automatically transfers every copyright right.

OPEN-SOURCE SOFTWARE

Open-source code may be used only in accordance with its licence terms. The development team should maintain notices or attribution files when a licence requires them and should avoid adding code with licence terms that conflict with the intended website distribution or operation.

LICENSING REGISTER — REQUIRED INTERNAL RECORD

For each non-MJV asset, record: asset name/description; creator/provider; source; licence or permission type; proof of licence/permission location; attribution required; permitted uses; restrictions; expiry date if any; and reviewer.

TAKEDOWN OR RIGHTS CONCERN

A person who believes content on the MJV website infringes their rights should contact MJV Masonry & Contracting with enough information to identify the material and explain the concern. MJV should promptly review the claim and, where appropriate, temporarily remove or restrict the material while ownership or permission is verified.
